The Systemic Team Coaching Practitioner course, developed by Prof. Peter Hawkins and Michael Cooper is a transformative learning experience for individual coaches, team facilitators, and organizational consultants. This course goes beyond traditional team development, focusing on co-creating value with all stakeholders, and is grounded in Prof. Hawkins's Five Disciplines of Teams model, recognized globally.

2. Who is the Systemic Team Coaching® Practitioner course for?

This course has been designed to suit experienced coaches, who want to develop their own, unique approach to team coaching. The core models provide a language client teams can easily understand and apply both with the coach and when the coach has gone. If you enjoy helping people find elegant solutions to complex situations, you will find that this course radically enhances your toolkit. 

3. What are the prerequisites for joining the course?

To be accepted into the Practitioner level, you need to have completed either the Team Development Essentials or a foundations team coaching certification course, and have at least 6 months of hands-on experience coaching a team. 

4. What is the difference between the Team Development Essentials and the Systemic Team Coaching® Practitioner course?

In the Team Development Essentials, we started coaching leaders to better enable their teams, coach the team through the team leader, or how to start with the team.

In the Systemic Team Coaching® Practitioner you will learn how to effectively convey “why team coaching” to a potential client partner, how to expand your practice by coaching a team using the Five Disciplines of high-value creating teams, and SIDER, a model for scoping, contracting, and delivering team coaching work. 

You will expand the range of approaches you can use when coaching teams, and the authority, presence, and impact required to be a successful team coach.

After engaging with Systemic Team Coaching® Practitioner, you will gain the ability to coach teams, deliver off-site workshops, and carry out structured team diagnostics.

5. I’m already certified or have other training. How will this course help me?

By taking the Systemic Team Coaching® Practitioner course you will be able to take your current work to a deeper level, extending the impact you and your client teams achieve.

This course was designed to help you gain new perspectives on team coaching from the world’s foremost experts on the topic along with their global faculty. Coaches, who attend this course will be able to sell and deliver a more complete package of support to organizations – integrating the development of the leader and his or her team. 

Successfully transitioning to team coach typically also enhances and speeds up the journey towards personal and coach maturity – the perspective that comes with team coaching competence has positive impacts across the whole of a person’s socio-emotional and cognitive identity.

Team coaching is evolving so fast that refresher training is essential to keep up. You will also have an opportunity to enhance your network of team coach colleagues, whom you can draw upon for large assignments.

6. How much time will I need to invest to be successful in the course?
In terms of sessions, the course consists of 4.5 hours of sessions per month. 

Each month you will experience a:
  • Week 1 - 90-minute Theory session to unveil new concepts and tools with selected faculty;
  • Week 2 - 120-minute Practicum sessions with trained and experienced team coaching facilitators;
  • Week 3 - 60-min Core Learning session to ask questions, analyze case studies or participate in demos with the faculty;
  • Week 4 - Reading week for additional reading materials, homework, and catching up if required.
There’s also some preparation, practice, self-study, and homework which amounts to approximately 7 hours per month.

Note, should you opt for the Group Supervision these five sessions with certified Supervisors will take place over five consecutive months in Week 4 of each month. 

These supervision hours, although optional, are required to achieve the International Coaching Federation’s (ICF) Advanced Certification in Team Coaching (ACTC). (Additional fees apply.)
7. What designation do I get upon completing this course?
Upon completing the graduation requirements, graduates will earn the designation Certified Practitioner in Systemic Team Coaching®.
8. Is the course accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF)

The Systemic Team Coaching Practitioner Course has been designed to meet the International Coaching Federation’s (ICF) Continuing Coach Education (CCE) accreditation requirements, offering up to 72 Continuing Coach Education (CCE) Units. 

Combined with Group Supervision, the course is designed to meet the ICF’s Advanced Accreditation in Team Coaching (AATC), providing participants with a clear path to achieving the Advanced Certification in Team Coaching (ACTC).

9. Is the course accredited by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC)?

Yes! The course is accredited by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) with a Team Coaching Training Quality Award (TCQA) accreditation offering up to 72 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Hours. 

Upon completing the graduation requirements, participants will also automatically earn a recommendation for the Individual Team Coaching Award (ITCA) at Practitioner Level. Participant’s contact details will be auto-forwarded to the EMCC Global 30 days after the program ends. EMCC Global will contact each participant about the opportunity and the overall application process. Applying is completely optional. 

To be able to claim your ITCA at Practitioner Level, participant needs to:

  • Hold an active EMCC Global Individual Accreditation (EIA)

  • Complete team coaching education accredited with TCQA at the Practitioner Level: The Practitioner course was designed to meet the required competencies, and is accredited at the TCQA Practitioner level.

  • Team Coaching Engagements: Complete at least 2 team coaching engagements prior to application.

  • Reflective Practice Logs and/or Case Studies: Documented your progression and learnings as a part of the team coach development process.
